Every organization has an elephant in the room. Sometimes it is gossip. Sometimes entitlement. Sometimes bullying, defamation, negativity, or the one person everyone talks about privately but avoids publicly.
The problem is not only the behavior. The problem is the team allowing it to continue. Why? They may not have been trained to handle these scenarios. That happened to me! Today, research shows over 60% of new managers have no training before they take the role.
Cultures improve when leaders and teammates develop the courage to address difficult issues candidly, professionally, and early, before frustration spreads across the room, the station, or the organization. We all have a duty and commitment to the people we work with.
Most people already see the elephant. Very few are willing to talk about it.
That conversation matters AND we are going to start it.
